A first for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, one of the most influential industrial gatherings of its kind -- the 2018 Global Service Outsourcing Summit (GSOS) -- will take place in Zhuhai on June 8 and 9.

Ranked fifth in Guangdong Province, Zhuhai's service outsourcing industry has sustained annualized growth of 30 percent over the past five years. It has also been a Guangdong Service Outsourcing Demonstration City during that time.

There are now 174 service outsourcing enterprises in Zhuhai, with execution value of contracts reaching $268 million in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 47.9 percent. Eighty-seven of them do multinational business, servicing Hong Kong, Taiwan, and foreign enterprises such as Dell, Citi, MTR Corp, and Kowloon Motor Bus Co.

Notably, the Zhuhai Service Outsourcing Industry Exchange Center, Guangdong's first comprehensive facility in the field, opened at Southern Software Park in the Zhuhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone in 2016. Enterprises often outsource non-core work to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance core competency. They rely upon experienced professionals to complete projects, so they can focus on their primary business. With economic globalization and world industrial restructure, the service outsourcing industry is booming.

The GSOS agenda lists forums on Belt & Road Mission & Opportunities of Service Outsourcing, Internet+ New Update on Innovation & Development of Service Outsourcing; and One-on-One Business Matches.

The summit integrates global outsourcing resources and promotes communication and cooperation between service outsourcing parks and enterprises worldwide. This improves the scale, quality, and brand effect of service outsourcing, according to the official website.

Embracing the latest economic and industrial trends, the summit will publicize and implement State Council strategic deployment and policies on service outsourcing. It will become an international communication platform to integrate global resources, stimulate sustained and sound industrial development, and promote Chinese service outsourcing.

More than 500 representatives from PRC ministries and commissions, provinces and cities (mainly 31 service outsourcing demonstration cities), internationally renowned service outsourcing enterprises, associations, and organizations from more than 20 countries and regions will attend.

Invited are 80 international guests of prestige. Some are senior executives from Fortune Global 500, Global Outsourcing 100, and Forbes Global 2000 companies such as General Electric (GE) and Luxaviation Group. Others hail from international advisory bodies, service outsourcing associations, and organizations like the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) and Russian National Association of Strategic Outsourcing (ASTRA).

The 2018 edition is hosted by the Chinese Academy of International Trade & Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce, Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, and Zhuhai Municipal People's Government. Organizers are the Foreign Investment in China Magazine, Institute of International Trade in Service, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, and Zhuhai Bureau of Commerce.

GSOS was formerly known as Global Outsourcing Summit (GOS). It had been held in Ma'anshan of Anhui Province, Kunming of Yunnan, and Wuxi of Jiangsu. In 2014, it was upgraded and renamed Global Service Outsourcing Summit.
