According to statistics from the Yangzhou municipal tourism bureau, the city's eight major scenic spots received a total of 528,600 tourists during the three-day May Day holiday, a year-on-year increase of 20.56 percent, while the new scenic sites and county scenic areas welcomed a total of 139,400 tourists.

Traditional well-known scenic spots, like the Slender West Lake Scenic Area, Dongguan Street and the Grand Canal were still the first choice for nonlocal tourists from surrounding cities. The Slender West Lake Scenic Area welcomed 232,400 tourists during the three-day holiday, an increase of 25.17 percent compared with the same period last year.
