Family-friendly activities animate May 1st holiday

Cosplay, car shows, exotic delicacies, and farmland fun will be had throughout the Gaolan Port Economic Zone in Jinwan District during the April 29-to-May 1 Labor Day holiday and beyond.

An animation themed fair for children and parents alike will be held at Ocean Hot Springs Resort in Pingsha Town over the next two months, promising a dreamlike journey. In addition to Cosplay Carnival, an animation exhibition at Mysterious Island Theme Park may stir up a wave of nostalgia. Featured are classic fairytale characters such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, along with another 150 popular animation stars.

Also scheduled are bubble making and water sprinkling at Ocean Hot Springs, rice dumplings (zongzi) and kite-making, and the facility's first-ever Auto Culture Festival & Hunting Auto Carnival (Zhuhai stop). Foodies shouldn't miss the Chinese & Western Gourmet Festival themed on Mexican delicacies, lotus root, and Poon Choi (one-pot dish for special occasions).

Beach fun

Zhuhai Yitian Agricultural-Ecological Garden in Nanshui Town will promote a Return to Nature with family-friendly farm activities during the May Day holiday. There will be stationary-lift net fishing, self-service picnics, soya bean grinding, egg picking in the bamboo grove, sandlot treasure hunting, tug-of-war, and beach volleyball.

Beginning April 29, Green Finger Farm in Pingsha will invite family campers for many kinds of activities. Ice cracking, tent building, DIY breakfast, learning to raise seedlings, cattle watching, scarecrow making, and free picking are anticipated.

Activity winners will receive walking sticks, U-shaped soft pillows, saber cards, and magic headbands as prizes.
