Optimistic about the aviation market in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Donghai Airlines of Shenzhen plans to add one or two additional overnight flights at Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport and establish an operation base there this year.
More Donghai hops will connect Zhuhai with Nanchang of Jiangxi Province, Wuhan and Yichang of Hubei, as well as Taiyuan of Shanxi, according to a company executive.
Donghai Airlines held conference on April 25 to promote its new summer-autumn timetable, which came into effect on March 25. The burgeoning Greater Bay Area was said to have boosted the development of Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport.

With the arrival of the new aviation season, Donghai resumed flights from Zhuhai to Hangzhou of Zhejiang and Guiyang of Guizhou, while opening new routes to Quanzhou in Fujian and Mianyang in Sichuan. Currently, it operates three overnight flights and six routes connecting Zhuhai to eight destinations.
Donghai is the first private joint-venture airline in the country. It came to Zhuhai in 2016 with the opening of the Zhuhai-Changsha-Nantong, Zhuhai-Chongqing, Zhuhai-Zhengzhou, and Zhuhai-Hangzhou air routes.
The company reached a significant milestone last year with the introduction of international air routes and establishment of a Zhuhai business department. As of now, it has five operation bases and more than 30 routes to more than 30 domestic and foreign cities.
