Adjoining the Sun Wen Memorial Park known for its remarkable landscape, the Boai Hospital of Zhongshan was initially built in 1994, with the funding from the local residents, Hong Kong and Macao compatriots and overseas Chinese. In 2000, to maximize resource sharing, the municipal government opted to merge it with the Zhongshan Maternal and Child Care Hospital, a medical institution built in 1952.
The newly merged hospital highlights its advantages inherited from the maternal and child care hospital in gynecology, obstetrics, pediatrics, neonatology, and maternal and child care, while in the meantime further the development of general departments including that of internal medicine and surgery. It is a Grade III, Class A hospital that seeks all-round development, integrating medical prevention and treatment, health care, recovery with research while highlighting the specialty of maternal and child care.
The hospital has gained an edge in its specialties of gynecology and obstetrics, antenatal diagnosis, pediatrics, neonatology, as well as maternal and child care. Its clinical services of medicine and surgery are continually being advanced.
In 2010, the hospital won the title of National Standardized Nebulization Therapy Training Center signed by Zhong Nanshan, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as that of International Standardized Immunotherapy Center, an international certification. It is the only municipal hospital awarded with such certification.
The opening ceremony of Zhongshan "One-Stop" Foreign Medical Treatment Service Pilot Program took place at Boai Hospital on June 15, 2017. The hospital established a foreign medical care unit based on the consultation and treatment conditions of foreigners, and formulated Procedure for Foreigners' Clinical Appointment, Consultation and Treatment, Procedure for Foreigners' Provisional Consultation and Treatment, as well as Procedure for Foreigner's Hospitalization.
The hospital also has a reservation hotline at 0760-88880968 and a self-booking service on WeChat. Hospital Brochure for Foreigners are provided in the hospital. Translation services during consultation and hospitalization are available for foreigners to ease any language barriers between them and the medical care personnel, and to further improve foreigners' experience in the process of consultation and hospitalization.
