Yang Maorong: Tianjin Binhai New Area to serve Xiongan New Area

NPC deputy and the head of Tianjin Binhai New Area Yang Maorong gave an interview at the "NPC deputies' passage" on March 9.

Tianjin Binhai New Area will actively serve and integrate the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Plan, and benefit from it as well.

Yang used three key phrases, "new structure", "new direction", and "closer" to describe the relationship between Tianjin Binhai New Area and Xiongan New Area.

Tianjin Binhai New Area will promote regional development to form a new structure. Binhai New Area co-built Zhongguancun Technological Park, combining the innovation achievements and resources of Z-Park with the advanced manufacturing industry and spatial carrier of Binhai New Area to achieve a win-win outcome.

"We have introduced over 2,900 projects from Beijing, three times more than before." And Tianjin Binhai New Area has cooperated with Hebei's ports to build dry ports to improve the efficiency of customs clearance and reduce the cost of logistics.

Green development is a new trend. Tianjin has closed polluting enterprises to eliminate coal consumption and banned the road transportation of coal. Although those measures reduced revenue by more than 100 million yuan ($15.82 million), emissions also fell. Binhai New Area has become more comfortable and livable.

Transportation integration in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will benefit all residents. Tianjin has canceled the driving restriction in peak hours for Beijing's vehicles. In 2017, Tianjin welcomed over 30,000 people from Beijing to work in Binhai New Area. The monthly tickets of intercity trains make the trips more convenient for people who live in Tianjin but work in Beijing. "It will reduce costs by over one thousand yuan," Yang said.

Yang also referred to the following three advantages.

The port's resources and accelerated construction of the China Northern international shipping core area will provide convenient maritime transportation for Beijing and Xiongan New Area.

The advanced manufacturing industry will demonstrate "China Made 2025", and support the construction of a world-class coordinated metropolitan region.

And, with supportive policies, Tianjin Binhai New Area will encourage innovation and try to build an innovative platform. "Binhai New Area is devoted to the development of Beijing and Xiongan New Area, and the integration of the global economic system," said Yang.
