The Inner Mongolia Police Professional College (or the Inner Mongolia Police Training Corps) is the only public security institution in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. The college is directly under the administrative unit of the region's Public Security Department. It is responsible for training public security special personnel. It also undertakes on-the-job training, the study of theories of public security and practical research into ways of dealing with emergencies.

The school's personnel and property are managed by the autonomous region's Public Security Department, and its administrative department of education is managed by the region's Education Department.

The college was originally established in 1948 as a training department directly under the Ministry of Public Security of Inner Mongolia. In 1980, it was converted to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Police School. In 2001, it was developed into Inner Mongolia Police Professional College, approved by the region's people's government. In 2002, the former Judicial School of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was incorporated into the college.

The college follows the rules of the deputy departmental system. It has 17 sub-departments, including six administrative departments and 11 teaching and teaching assistance agencies.

The college specializes in the majors of criminal investigation, public security management, traffic management, domestic security, information network security supervision, legal affairs, public security secretarial and community management and services. The two majors on criminal investigation and public security management offer bilingual classes.

All the majors aim to cultivate police talents with steady political positions, loyalty and reliability, a strict sense of organization, good professional ethics and police qualities. The graduates of the college are expected to be familiar with the line, policy, laws and regulations on public security. Its Chinese language teaching classes also offer police classes in English and Mongolian. And there are also Mongolian and Chinese bilingual courses for bilingual students.

Five majors in criminal investigation, public security management, traffic management, domestic security and information network security supervision started enrolling students in 2016, and the criminal investigation major also provides Mongolian and Chinese bilingual class.

Over the past 68 years, the college has trained more than 5,000 students. The graduates work in all areas of public security and legal organs at all levels across the whole region. Most of the graduates have become the backbone of their institutions, and many of them have become leaders in their areas. The college has also trained professionals from Liaoning, Jilin, Xinjiang, Qinghai and Gansu provinces.
