Changsha's Tongguan Port to begin operations in May

Changsha's Tongguan Port has recently completed its first phase of construction and is projected to begin operations next month, Xinhua News Agency reported on April 10.

Beginning in August 2016, the project's first phase covers an area of 462 mu (30.8 hectares), and includes two 2,000-ton berths with an expected annual throughout capacity of 600,000 tons and matching accessory facilities.

Situated along the main stream of the Xiangjiang River, Tongguan Port will serve as one of the important shipping hubs in Central China's Hunan province.

Tongguan Port project, divided into three phases, will be home to four 2,000-ton break-bulk berths, four 3,000-ton multi-purpose berths and one berth for commercial ro-ro ships upon completion.
