When someone mentions duck in China, Beijing roasted duck is usually the first thing that comes to mind. However, there are other ways to eat duck in China.

Spiced duck is quite popular among Xiamen residents, especially the Guankou spiced duck in Jimei district. Ten years ago, it was said that one is not a true Guankou resident if they have never tasted Guankou spiced duck.

Local ducks and aged gingers are the main ingredients. Instead of being cooked over fire, Guankou spiced duck is braised in sand, which is good for maintaining temperature. The unique recipe and cooking method is what makes the dish taste and smell so good.
