Yantaishan Hospital was founded in Yantai, Shandong province in 1860. It was formerly the French Catholic Hospital and is one of the earliest western medicine hospitals in China. It has always been committed to providing a high quality of medical care.

The hospital has developed into a Grade III A-level general hospital and a top-grade maternal and child care hospital that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, first aid and rehabilitation. It is also a foreign-affiliated designated hospital, a hospital affiliated to Taishan Medical College and a teaching center of Dalian Medical University.

The hospital covers an area of 39,580 square meters, with building area of 76,585 square meters. It has 690 million yuan ($109.9 million) of fixed assets. There are 1,500 beds and 2,353 employees including 2,069 health technicians.

There are 55 clinical departments, 15 medical technical departments and 22 functional departments. The number of annual outpatients reaches nearly 800,000 and annual hospitalizations reach 30,000.

Its orthopedics was the first A-level specialty in Shandong province in 1997. It currently has eight subspecialties including trauma, spinal, joint, pediatrics, bone tumors, sports medicine, orthopedics and synthetic orthopedics. There are 11 inpatient wards, 350 beds and 120 physicians.

The hospital has provincial qualification to conduct hip and knee replacements. It can carry out high-level spinal surgery and has the ability to handle complex and severe trauma.
