Skills competition opens in N China’s Baotou

The 45th Worlds Skills Competition (Baotou division) began in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on March 26, reports Baotou Daily.

Attendees at the launch ceremony included Zhang Yuanzhong, secretary of the CPC Baotou municipal committee, Zhao Jiangtao, mayor of Baotou, and Li Chunren, secretary-general of Baotou.

The competition, co-hosted by the human resources and social security bureau, the education bureau, and the finance bureau of Baotou, will include contests covering areas such as graphic design techniques, website design, automotive engineering, CAD machine design, and mechatronics.

A total of 57 winners will be selected and will participate in the qualifying trials on behalf of Baotou for the Inner Mongolia autonomous region division, which is to be held at the end of March.

Organized by WorldSkills, the World Skills Competition is held every two years and is one of the biggest vocational education and skills events in the world. It provides an opportunity for participants to display vocational skills, as well as an opportunity for leaders in industry, government and education to exchange information and best practices regarding industrial and professional education.

The 45th Worlds Skills Competition is to be held in Kazan, Russia during August 2019.
