Hohhot Mongolian School

Hohhot Mongolian School is a key school of Hohhot city and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Classes are taught in the Mongolian language. There are more than 1,800 students, 40 classes, over 1,200 resident students, 235 faculty and staff and 194 full-time teachers. It offers Chinese literacy classes from the second grade of primary school and English classes from the first grade. Some students even take Japanese as an elective course. The "trilingual teaching" experiment is at the forefront of similar schools in Inner Mongolia.

The school was established in Zhangjiakou city in 1948 as a primary school for the children of cadres in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 1952, it moved to Hohhot with the government of the autonomous region and moved to its present site in 1953. In 1976, it was expanded into a complete school including primary school, middle school and high school with the name Hohhot Mongolian School.
