Zhejiang lures HK talents

A recruitment fair in Hong Kong for Zhejiang's enterprises attracted more than 4,000 job hunters on March 17.

Aiming to recruit high-caliber talent for Zhejiang's modern service industry, representatives from 100 companies, universities, and research institutes from industries like education, finance, and information technology offered more than 1,300 jobs for recent Hong Kong graduates. Preliminary agreements were reached with 850 applicants at the fair.

According to Zhejiang Province Human Resources and Social Security Department, the 2018 recruitment fair was the largest fair ever held in terms of scale.

A highlight of the event was the high-level and high-paying posts being showcased. Demands for new talents in operating management, marketing management, and R&D were the most prevalent. The average annual salary of some high-end posts is estimated to be over 250 thousand yuan ($39,480).

Cao Zhaowenbo, a young man from Xi'an and a doctorate student in City University of Hong Kong, said he once traveled to Hangzhou several years ago and was deeply affected by the enchanting scenery there.

"I heard that Zhejiang province attaches great importance to expertise and has favorable treatment for talented, high-caliber candidates from overseas. I came to this fair today to see whether I could find a suitable job because of that," said Cao.

The recruitment fair also launched 15 cooperative projects in terms of technology and investments, covering areas like industrial robotics and new battery manufacturing.
