Zhang Guoqing: Tianjin is to declare free port

The NPC deputy and the mayor of Tianjin Zhang Guoqing stressed on Tianjin Delegation Media Open Day, held Mar 6, that Tianjin port is being declared the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei free port".

Free port means a port which allows a two-way free flow of foreign goods and funds, or foreign ships and planes.

Zhang said that Tianjin is strengthening the innovative system in the China (Tianjin) Pilot Free Trade Zone and declaring the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei free port" which will serve the whole area of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and will be a platform for opening to the outside world.

The Tianjin's governmental work report which was released in January of 2018 says that the declaration of the free port is a matter of cooperation with Beijing and Hebei and will proceed.
