Changsha public buses

The transportation system of public buses in Changsha covers all the urban area and outskirts. The price is 1 yuan ($0.15) for common public buses and typically two yuan for air-conditioning ones.

There are two doors on the buses here, the front is for boarding and the back for getting off. When you enter the bus there is a box for you to drop the fare into. The bus driver will not give you change, so be prepared with exact change. If you don't have the exact amount of the change, collect the fares of passengers boarding after you. Routes are posted on signs at each stop.

Residents will get a 70 percent discount by using an IC card to take a bus, while students (except for university students) will get a 50 percent discount by using their cards. Senior citizens above the age of 65 and disabled people can take public buses for free by scanning a special IC card.
