Tree adoption launched in Yuelu Mountain

According to the management office of Yuelu Mountain Scenic Spot, an plant adoption activity "tree planting in spring to make Yuelu Mountain covered by maple trees" will be held on the 40th Tree-Planting Day when individuals, enterprises, associations and families are all welcomed.

From now until Mar 19, citizens can apply for planting 100 red maple trees in the afforestation area (the trees are provided by Yuelu Mountain Scenic Spot) around the Aiwan Pavilion with the cost of 1,000 yuan ($157.96) per plant for three years or 400 yuan per plant for one year. Meanwhile, 500 centuries-old trees and welfare green area will be provided for adoption. The cost for the ancient trees is 600 yuan per plant for one year and the fee for welfare green area will be given different levels of concessions according to the time span of adoption. "All fees will be used for the conservation and protection of ancient and famous trees in the scenic spot," said Yang Yanhua, the person in charge of the green landscape in Yuelu Mountain Scenic Spot. She said that the management office will issue a certificate for the adopters and hanged a board on the adopted tree with the adopter's name signed on. During the adoption period, the management and conservation information of the adopted trees will be promptly sent to the adopters, and the adopters can get free technical advice for gardening and family flowers.

The adoption activities and Changsha afforestation volunteer activity will be initiated on Mar 11. At that time, applicants will plant red maples and Japanese maples in five places near Aiwan Pavilion.
