Visitors flocked to Zhuhai Taiwan Farmers Venture Park in Jinwan District's Pingsha Town and harvested 68 tons of fruits during the Feb 15-21 Spring Festival holiday.

Yongcheng Horticulture Production Base in the park hosted more than 100,000 fruit-seekers, clearing 40 tons of zizyphus mauritiana lam (Chinese dates) and 15 tons of carambola (starfruit). Also gathered were 12.5 tons of sweet oranges from Baocheng Production Base, according to estimates.

Promotions of the park's new offerings ahead of Spring Festival proved effective. In addition to fruit picking, visitors also sampled authentic local cuisines.

Wende Orchid Plantation Base attracted more than 20,000 during the seven-day break due to a profusion of tropical orchid flowers. The Tropical Orchid (International) Seed Industry R&D Center located in the park provided technical support for the new activities.

Zhuhai Taiwan Farmers Venture Park was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council in 2008 as the first of its kind in Guangdong. It has attracted investment in the Pearl River Delta by Taiwan farmers and agricultural enterprises.

The activities showcased the achievements of modern agriculture in Zhuhai and promoted eco-agriculture tourism and construction of a New Countryside, said an official.
