Seas of aromatic flowers will permeate Haibin, Jingshan, Bailiandong (White Lotus Cave), and other city parks throughout the Feb 15-21 Spring Festival holiday, it was announced by Zhuhai Yuehua Landscaping Construction Management on Feb 12.

Haibin, which covers 8,000 sq m (9,570 sq yd), is the primary venue of the 2018 Spring Festival Flower Show. Some hundred-thousand tulips blanket a 3,000-sq-m (3,600-sq-yd) area dotted with more than 90,000 pots of chrysanthemums, violets, and daisy-like coreopsis. Footpaths allow visitors to get up close to the floral displays. In addition, 2,000 sq m (2,400 sq yd) of florets skirt Lovers Avenue on the Fisher Maiden side of the park.

To highlight the Year of the Dog and enhance the zodiac's visualization, an animated "man's best friend" made of plastic foam stands before a green-and-red lawn to wish for a jubilant Lunar New Year.

Bailiandong and Jingshan parks will each have six sections awash with blossoms. More than 1,700 sunflowers at the east entrance of Bailiandong resonate with the scenic spot's theme of "Welcoming Spring".

Furthermore, more than 170,000 pots of flowers across some 20 varieties decorate city park entrances, roads, and sightseeing spots. Alongside them are more than 9,000 lanterns, 300 windmills, and other ornaments such as illuminations, festoons, and feather banners.

Since renovation on Yeli Island in Xiangzhou (Mingting Park) is yet to be completed, that popular leisure site is closed to the public during the Lunar New Year festivities.
