Changchun New Area in Jilin province announced at its 2018 Government Conference on Jan 22 that it has been focusing on integrating the development of Changchun and Jilin cities and areas along the Tumen River.

It was also announced at the conference that 2017's emphasis on promoting the Belt and Road Initiative and revitalizing old industrial bases would continue.

Li Zhongbin, Party secretary of Changchun New Area, delivered the report of the area's achievements in 2017 and its new goals for 2018.

He said that the total output of the Area reached 87.2 billion yuan ($13.6 billion), with a year-on-year growth of 9.5 percent. Fixed-asset investment in 2017 reached 125 billion yuan, up by 24.5 percent compared to that in 2016.

In 2018, the Area will continue to encourage innovative enterprises to settle and build the area into an innovation-driven industrial zone.
