The Tianjin High People's Court released a white paper on the courts' role in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative on Jan 16.

Judicial proceedings play an important role in the implementation of the initiative, according to the paper.

The Belt and Road Initiative, put forward in 2013 to boost interconnectivity between Asia and the rest of the world, has delivered real benefits through win-win cooperation and attracted extensive participation.

The white paper provides basic information about Belt and Road Initiative construction in the city and discusses 15 typical cases.

The paper is concerned about various areas including foreign-related commercial trials, intellectual property rights, maritime commercial disputes and judicial examinations for foreign-related commercial arbitrations.

It is reported that courts in Tianjin have heard 1,124 commercial and maritime cases concerning the Belt and Road Initiative so far. Altogether 727 of them have been closed.

Cases have been of different types, including the international sale of goods, sea freight transport and imports involving parallel trademarks.
