The first Huhtala Snow and Ice Tourism and Culture Festival opened in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, on Jan 16.

Huhtala, which means “green grassland” in Mongolian, is a grassland area in Hohhot’s Baoheshao town.

The festival was organized by the government of Xincheng district with the themes of “sharing the ice and snow world” and “creating beautiful grasslands”.

Across 33 hectares, the festival includes such attractions as ice and snow sculpture exhibitions, the winter Nadam Fair and a food fair.

Baoheshao intends to present a visual feast for visitors and establish itself as a prominent Inner Mongolian cultural brand, bolstering tourism in the city.

According to the Hohhot public transportation corporation, a special bus route will operate from Jan 16 until March 3 when the festival closes.
