Their maximum speed is 80km/h, and they are organized in group of four. The train's body uses B type stainless steel, and holds a maximum of 1,262 passengers.

The trains look like a dolphin's streamlined body in appearance, and are shaped to reduce drag when running. The body of the trains is patterned after the Great Wall, even down to the decoration of the headlights

The trains use the highest level (GOA4) of the international standard IEC62267.

To guarantee the security of the trains, they have many sensors monitoring operations. The obstacle and derailment detection technologies were all researched and developed by China, a first for the country.

Fully-automatic trains operate in many cities around the world, such as Paris of France, Nuremberg of Germany, Sao Paulo of Brazil and Barcelona of Spain. Because the YANFANG line is an elevated line, it accommodates fully-automatic operations.

The products of CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles have been exported to more than 20 countries and regions such as America and Australia, showing the strength of "Made in China".

In December 2016, CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles customized trains of the South Island Line in Hong Kong, the first fully-automatic subway trains in China, to favorable reviews.

The Beijing Subway Yanfang Line has adopted the technologies of the South Island Line, and it is the first to apply them in mainland China.
