Hong Kong youths visit Jilin province

A six-day visit for Hong Kong youths to learn more about the transformation and reconstruction of the old industrial base in NE China kicks off in Jilin province on Dec 27. [Photo provided to ejilin.gov.cn]

A group of Hong Kong youths intending to learn more about the transformation and reconstruction of the old industrial base in NE China began a visit to Jilin province on Dec 27.

During the six-day visit the Hong Kong students will have a close look at Chang Guang Satellite Technology where Jilin-1 satellites were born, high speed trains and railway manufacturer CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles and Aviation University Air Force which focuses on cultivating flight controllers and aerospace engineering talents.

They will also learn about of the region's war history and experience promotion and inheritance of Jilin's local culture.

The activity was sponsored by the Tourism Development Commission of Jilin Province, Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group, the Future Star Federation of Student, Jilin University and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office for Jilin province.

A total of 143 Hong Kong students are participating in the activity.

The Future Star Federation of Student is a non-governmental organization for young people initiated in 2005 by Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group, a media group integrated by two newspapers -- Ta Kung Pao and Wenweipo.

The organization intends to help young people in Hong Kong learn more about all aspects of the development of the Chinese mainland such as economics, political strategy, education and technology and offer chances for youths from Jilin and Hong Kong to exchange ideas and share their lives.
