Promoting Jilin province medicine industry to the world

Delegates from more than 20 pharmaceutical companies discussed how to promote medical products to the US and increase cooperation with the American medicine industry at a seminar on Dec 14.

Jilin province is a national science and technology base for Chinese medicine, a bio-technology industrial base and an export and innovative medicine production base, according to Mou Shanchun, director of the Chinese Traditional Medicine Office of the Jilin Provincial Department of Science and Technology.

Li Jianhua, vice president of the Jilin Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said bio-pharmacy in the province should improve its quality, enter global markets and promote cooperation with international medicine companies.

He added that the province should take advantage of its medicine industry and build health industrial zones, construct technology cooperation platforms and start to develop new medical products with American medicine companies to improve its pharmaceutical research and development and gain international influence.

Commenting on better ways for Jilin medicine companies to tap into the world market, Wang Peng, deputy director of Xiuzheng Group, suggested that governmental support and cooperation within Jilin's pharmaceutical companies are two bases.

He also expressed his wish that the government will provide Jilin pharmaceutical companies chances to learn about international medicine markets and offer them a platform to cooperate with each other.
