Beijing welcomes Institute of Intelligent Computing Industry

SmartCore (Beijing) Co Ltd (SmartCo), the founder of high-throughput computing, announced the launch of the Institute of Intelligent Computing Industry Beijing at Shunyi district of Beijing on Dec 6.

The Zhongguancun-based company joined with the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shunyi District Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun to found the institute.

Zhang Hao, CTO of SmartCo, said, "The institute will sharpen new technologies and identify trends in the intelligent computing industry and be devoted to become an intelligent platform and accelerator of the industry."

Zhang added that the new institute is projected to incubate 50 influential companies in the field of intelligent computing within 10 years, forming an annual production output of 10 billion yuan ($1.51 billion).

SmartCo has cooperated with Qualcomm Incorporated, a world leader in 3G and next-generation mobile technologies, on a joint laboratory which will receive an R&D platform valued at over 40 million yuan from the Chinese Academy of Sciences institute.

The world's first ever high-throughput artificial intelligent technology based on an Advanced RISC Machine (ARM) was released by the two companies.

Fan Dongrui, president of SmartCo, said the institute will build an intelligent computerized eco-industry covering equipment, smart vehicles and finance.

To date, more than 10 international startup teams have signed contracts to enter the institute.

Sun Ninghui, head of the Academy of Sciences institute, said that the development of intelligence needs the cooperation of government, industry, science research institutes, and innovative enterprises.
