The so-called "Hometown of the Dinosaurs" is located 9 kilometers from the downtown area of Ereenhot city. Ereenhot is world famous for its dinosaur fossils. It is where dinosaur eggs were first discovered in China. As early as 70 million years ago, the area was a dinosaur's paradise, with many lakes, a humid climate and luxuriant jungles.
Starting in the 1890s, paleontologists and geologists from Russia, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Japan, Germany, Mongolia and China conducted investigations and excavations in the area, finding more than l0 kinds of Euhelopodidae, Alectrosaurus olseni, Cope, Archaeornithomimus asiatiicus, Ankylosaurus and Ceratopsia fossils and unearthing a large number of comparably complete fossilized dinosaur skeletons.
Ereenhot Dinosaurs Park was selected as a 4A-level scenic spot in 2006.
