Zhuhai going all out to attract talents from overseas

A thousand skilled people with overseas experience will be offered jobs at the 4th Zhuhai International Students Festival & 2017 Overseas Students Entrepreneurship Week from Dec 8 to 10.

Thirteen talent exchanges, project networking sessions, business salons, and symposiums have been designed for international students, returned scholars, and overseas experts.

The Overseas Students Entrepreneurship Week is a part of the nationwide branding campaign promoted by the Communist Youth League Central Committee. Under the theme of "Returnees Wishing to Serve the Motherland Can Realize Their Dreams in Zhuhai," the event is expected to attract outstanding students studying in China and abroad, according to the organization committee.

The main venue is the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center in Shizimen Central Business District with parallel sessions elsewhere in Hengqin New Area and at the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Tangjiawan. The Lets Cultural District in Qianshan area of Xiangzhou District, where the first such job fair was held, is also included.

A Dec 9 highlight -- the Overseas Students Conference -- has five exhibition areas at Halls 3 and 4 dedicated for specific operations. Available are 3,000 high-quality positions with salaries up to 350,000-yuan ($52,890) yearly. Candidates will be provided with opportunities at 144 large state-owned companies, private enterprises, and some world top 500 companies.

In addition to recruitment, 93 firms are preparing for exchanges and cooperation opportunities.

Highly anticipated is the roadshow of entrepreneurial and innovative projects demonstrated by overseas experts involved in a brand investment tour targeting southern Guangdong cities. This will introduce talent and capital in line with development requirements. It will also integrate innovation resources at home and abroad to establish a repository of projects, innovative youth talents, and advisers.

What's more, Zhuhai will publicize its investment environment, preferential policies, and scientific research innovations. An area is earmarked for business negotiations and consulting, investment, and financing for startup teams.

There will also be a review of the accomplishments made by international students who graduated in the past three years, displayed in physical objects and project illustration.

According to the organizing committee, the range of participants has been broadened to cover not only investment attraction departments and venture capitals, but also university and college students as well as citizens who have an interest.

The 13 events are: keynote speech of "My China Dream" at the opening ceremony; Talent Exchange & Project Cooperation Meeting as part of the Overseas Students Conference; Overseas Scholars' Sci-Tech Innovation Dialogue & Zhuhai Overseas High-Level Young Talents Summit; symposium targeting returned young talents; Presentation Ceremony of the Venture Competition Zhuhai High-Tech Zone held concurrently with the Entrepreneurship Forum for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; Representative Assembly of Guangdong Overseas Youth Association (GOVA) & Representative Assembly of Guangdong High-level Overseas Young Talents Association; "Returnees Night" Business Salon; investment and entrepreneurship environment surveys; and an expo on overseas study's culture.

The Organization and United Front Work departments of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, Zhuhai Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, Zhuhai Human Resources & Social Security Bureau, Administrative Committee of Hengqin New Area, Administrative Committee of the National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and Guangdong Overseas-educated Youths Association are sponsoring the festival.

Huafa Group is the title sponsor under guidance of the Communist Youth League Central Committee, All-China Youth Federation, Western Returned Scholars Association • Overseas-Educated Scholars Association of China, Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, and Guangdong Youth Federation.

In the meantime, the Hong Kong United Youth Association, Macao Youth Federation, and Malaysian Chinese Association are ensuring a smooth presentation.
