1. Ocean Cup China (Pingtan) International Cycling Tournament
The Ocean Cup China (Pingtan) International Cycling Tournament has been held in Pingtan, Fujian province in June each year since 2014.
The tournament is the first of its kind to combine ocean culture with a cycling race. It is also a highlight of the city’s World Ocean Day promotional campaign, which falls on June 8 every year.
The three-day event calls on people to live a green and low-carbon lifestyle and helps Pingtan turn into an international tourism island
2. Pingtan International Kitesurfing Competition
The Pingtan International Kitesurfing Competition has been held each September in Pingtan since it was first launched in 2011.
The world championship contains two events—wave riding and jumping—both of which require the contestants to display excellent skills.
Sponsored by the International Kiteboarding Association (IKA), the sport's world governing body, the contest is a world kitesurfing ranking event that attracts many of the world's top riders.
3. Cross-Straits Taekwondo Contest
The contest is an annual event that began in 2012 and is scheduled to be held in July or Augus. It is designed to boost cross-Straits communication and make Pingtan an important city for taekwondo events
Jointly hosted by the Fujian Sports Bureau and Pingtan administrative committee, the competition includes several different events, namely, poomsae, nunchucks, taekwondo dance and power breaking.
