4. Cross-Straits Light Night Run Festival
The first Cross-Straits Light Night Run Festival was hosted in Pingtan, South China's Fujian province in September 2016.
Running enthusiasts from the mainland, Taiwan and several foreign countries wearing fluorescent sports gear will run along the city's coastline, creating a spectacular sight.
5. "Common Homeland" Forum
The first "Common Homeland" Forum was held in June 2012. It is convened annually from June 14 to 16 in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) in Fujian province.
The forum is an occasion for politicians, entrepreneurs and scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to discuss the development of Pingtan, which aims to be a perfect place for Taiwan people to live and work in the Chinese mainland.
