Cleaner auto emissions goal of latest Gaolan company

Organic chemicals manufacturer Ingevity Performance Materials (Zhuhai) Co Ltd opened an automotive technical center in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone on Nov 17 to produce world-leading environmentally friendly materials for automotive uses.

The 20 million yuan ($3 million) facility opened almost two years after the company began operation in January 2016 to keep a good development momentum. The company will conduct technical tests and product research and development relying on the company's fields and equipment resources at the 100 million yuan ($15 million) first-phase manufacturing base.

Ingevity Performance Materials (Zhuhai) was established in 2013, and specializes in providing automotive activated carbon solutions for fuel-vapor emissions control systems.

Headquartered in North Charleston, SC, Ingevity operates from 25 locations around the world and employs approximately 1,500 people. It is a global leader in providing specialty chemicals for forestry use as well as high-performance carbon materials and technologies. It is also the world's leading supplier of rosin-based tackifying resins and emulsifiers with annual sales revenue exceeding $1 billion.

The company wants to make greater global contributions to emission reduction and energy conservation, according to a manager at Ingevity.
