Auto manufacturing

Jilin province is one of the most important industrial bases in China and is known as"the cradle of China's industry". There were 156 programs in China's First Five-Year Plan, 12 ofwhich were locatedin Jilin province. FAW Group and CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles were among them and became part of Jilin's industrial foundation.

The industrial structure in Jilin province has improved through the years. Auto manufacturing, petrochemicals and agricultural processes are now the pillar industries in the province and others such as health care, photo electronics, and new materials have also grown.

Auto manufacturing

Auto manufacturing is the most prominent industry in Jilin province and holds a significant position in China. During the 13th Five-Year Plan, the province plans to improve its research and development on auto manufacturing and at the same time build a components industrial cluster.

China FAW Group Corporation, originally called First Automotive Works, was founded on July 15, 1953. China's first Jiefang commercial truck (1956), China's first Dongfeng car (1958) and the first Hongqi luxury sedan were all created by FAW. Since then, FAW has been at the forefront of promoting China's automotive industry.

FAW is China's State-owned automotive corporation. It currently employs 120,000 people around the world and sells products in over 70 countries. The company's total assets are valued at 244.575 billion yuan RMB.

It is an integrated manufacturerwhichmakes quality light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, automobiles, municipal buses and luxury tourist coaches, custom bus chassis, and mini-vehicles with total sales in excess of 18 million vehicles worldwide.
