Zhuhai emerges as yacht superpower at Macao fair

Zhuhai Haizhima Yacht Manufacture Factory clinched a 5-million-yuan ($753,525) intent order for its 52-ft mid-sized ship during the China (Macao) Automotive & Shipping Equipment Fair (CASEF) that was held from Nov 3 to 5.

The yacht manufacturer was among 12 other Zhuhai exhibitors at the Ministry of Commerce of China-sponsored event. They included counterparts Gree Shipping Co Ltd, Zhuhai Zhongya Yacht Co Ltd, and Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligence Technology Ltd (Yunzhou-Tech).

The second edition of the annual fair, held at the Venetian Macau Cotai Expo Hall, attracted 800 purchasers from more than 10 countries and regions including Hong Kong, Brazil, Portugal, Japan, and India.

A wide range of displays including yacht furniture, electrical equipment, unmanned vessels, and boutique yacht tourism routes, provided insight into Zhuhai's industrial strength. 

According to a delegation leader, it was a good opportunity to demonstrate the complete industrial chain in Zhuhai which covers manufacturing, service, and consumption thanks to the efforts of highly clustered enterprises.

The Zhuhai Yacht Tourism Association launched a promotional event sponsored by China National Automotive Industry International Corp (CNAICO) during the fair.

Hundreds of industry experts from home and abroad as well as merchants held trade talks and in-depth exchanges in terms of Zhuhai's industrial foundation, location advantages, resources, environment, and policy support.

These favorable conditions have contributed to making Zhuhai the largest, most intensive and highest-grade mid-to-high-class yacht manufacturing base in China, according to Fang Rongzhou, chairman of the Yacht Tourism Association.

Statistics show that there are now 60 yacht enterprises in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone, including 22 manufacturers, 38 firms producing support products, and commerce and trade.

Leading manufacturers have been imported from the United States, Australia, Italy, and Canada, and yacht-making has been designated a key sector of advanced equipment manufacturing industry in Zhuhai.

Taking advantage of Zhuhai-Macao cooperation ties, the city is looking to attract consumers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and focus on opening to the vast market of countries and regions along the Belt & Road, said a business representative.
