The Giant Panda Pavilion of the Jilin Siberian Tiger Park is home to two giant pandas -- Jiajia and Mengmeng.

The two pandas came to the park about two years ago. It was the first time that giant pandas came to live in the high latitude areas of Northeast China.

The two babies have now spent two years in Jilin under the attentive care of their keepers.

As it's now winter in Jilin, the keepers have made a lot of preparations, such as stored cabbages, wadded jackets and heating.

As one of those keepers, Wang Haixia is busy every day.

Wang says the pavilion always provides fresh food for the two giant pandas and every five days brings in some fresh bamboo from Sichuan.

Wang Haijun, Director of the management department of the park says that the pandas are well fed here and all food is thoroughly prepared.

The pavilion, equipped with a heating system, an air conditioner, a humidifier, an exhaust machine, and even ultraviolet disinfection lamps provides a good living environment suitable for the giant bears.

Other provinces in NE China have also start to welcome giant pandas.

Wang Pengyan, engineer-in-chief of the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda, said that learning how to feed and care for giant pandas in high latitude areas is of significance for China as it seeks to protect the creature.
