Int’l bird-viewing festival kicks off in Tianjin

The opening ceremony of the Third China Tianjin Binhai International Bird-Viewing Festival was held in Dagang Theater in Binhai New Area on Nov 6, marking a series of events of the festival that will take place in the balance of this year and throughout 2018.

With a theme of "Ecological Binhai, livable place", the festival will showcase Binhai New Area in an all-around way to the many ecologists, bird enthusiasts, photographers and media workers in attendance.

Tianjin Binhai New Area is an important area in the migratory routes of eastern wetland waterfowls and all migratory birds from East Asia to Australia.

To date, Tianjin has recorded more than 400 bird species. Twelve of them are national first-grade attentive protected species and 58 are national second-grade attentive protected species.

A theme day event and the opening ceremony of the award exhibition for the Second Bird-Viewing Festival Photo Contest will be held in Dagang Theater and Beidagang Wetland Nature Reserve on Nov 17. The exhibition will be mounted until the end of June 2018.

An International Seminar for Tianjin Binhai Wetland and Waterfowl protection will be held on Nov 17.

The Third Tianjin Bird Photography Competition will be held from Nov 17, 2017 to May 10, 2018.

The Second Tianjin Binhai New Area International Bird-viewing Competition will open in March of 2018 in Beidagang Wetland Nature Reserve and Sino-Singapore eco-city. More than 80 competitors from 20 overseas and domestic teams are expected to take part.
