Academy again puts Zhuhai at pinnacle of healthy cities

Out of 284 Chinese cities, Zhuhai stands first in health index for the third consecutive year, according to the Green Book of Eco-Cities released by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on Oct 31.

Formally known as the Report on the Construction & Development of China's Eco-Cities (2017), the document was released on Oct 31 citing 16 cities with the best health. They are: Zhuhai, Xiamen, Zhoushan, Sanya, Tianjin, Huizhou, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Nanning, Weihai, Beihai, Huangshan, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Zhenjiang, and Lhasa.

Two Guangdong cites, Zhuhai and Guangzhou, have held the top 10 places for six consecutive years.

Furthermore, based on classification, assessment, and evaluation, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Sanya, Zhoushan, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Huizhou, Shantou, and Zhenjiang are designated as the Top 10 Green Production Cities.

The report states that top-ranked Zhuhai enjoys unique advantages in location and economic development, and is advanced in becoming a Green Production City. The utilization of clean energy made the most contribution to Zhuhai's ranking.

Additionally, Sanya, Zhoushan, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Beijing, Tianjin, Lhasa, Nanning, Hefei, and Huizhou are among the Top 10 Health Livable Cities. The report also states that Sanya, Zhoushan, and Zhuhai take the lead in multiple indicators, especially in ecological environment indicators such as air, water quality, and forest coverage.
