Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is committed to building a multi-mode transport system and has given priority to upgrading roads –– with a projected 127.63-kilometer network of new roads to be built before the end of 2018.

The construction of major projects including Sanhuan Road, Zhaowuda Road, Zhelimu Road, Bayanzhuoer Road and Jinhai Road are in full swing.

Jinhai Road will run through Xincheng and Huimin districts, with a total length of 26 km. The new, two-way six-lane road will ease traffic pressures in the city.

"The construction work on Baiyanzhuoer Road is going smoothly," said Yun Ruipeng, vice-secretary of the commission for Huimin district.

He added that Baiyanzhuoer Road, which runs for 10.43 km, will form a north-south artery to facilitate transport in the city.

The projects are all expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
