FAW Jiefang Automotive recently completed a test of three container trucks with drive-smart functions on the Changchun-Shenzhen Highway, which is China's first highway test of the drive-smart functions of commercial heavy-duty trucks.

The drive-smart technology shows the tremendous research and development ability of FAW and also offers drivers greater safety, comfort and convenience.

According to the company, the test included adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), and a lane-keeping assist system (LKAS).

With the three functions, the truck can navigate automatically, raise an alarm and brake. The driver's hands can leave the steering wheel to fetch things such as a cup of tea.

Hu Hanjie, general manager of FAW Jiefang Automotive, said that in the immediate future the commercial vehicle industry's focus will be on intelligent cars. Higher level automatic trucks will be developed by the company by the end of 2020.
