The 4th Cross-Straits Rare Stamps Exhibition opened to the public on Sept 15 in the Tianjin Postal Service Museum.

Sixteen rare stamps issued before 1949, including the Commemorative Stamp of Empress Dowager Cixi's Birthday, were on display.

"The exhibition has fully shown the heart to heart relationships between cross-Straits people as expressed by postage stamps," said Zhao Xiaoguang, deputy director of the State Post Bureau of the People's Republic of China.

Zhao believes that the development of the cross-Straits postage stamp industry will be promoted and the cultural exchange of cross-Straits people will be strengthened by such events.

Vice General Manager of Taiwan Chunghwa Post Co said that taking the exhibition as the link, cross-Strait compatriots will honor the history of China's postal service and join hands to create a better future.

A special set of commemorative envelopes has been issued and a commemorative postmark has been made by Tianjin Post Group to mark the event.

The exhibition is co-hosted by the Cross-Straits Post Association for Exchange and the Taiwan Post Association, and will last until Sept 19.

Launched in 2013, the exhibition has been to Taipei, Beijing and Taitung.
