Residents in Changchun, Jilin province, will soon feel the charms of high-tech - as they take in an intelligent manufacturing-themed pavilion set up at the 11th China-Northeast Asia Expo, which runs from Sept 1 to 5.

A range of high-end intelligent manufacturing products, including intelligent robots, 3-D printing, smart home appliances and new energy automobiles, will be displayed at the expo.

This marks the first time that such a pavilion is included in the expo.

"The 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) is a crucial blueprint for China's manufacturing industry to improve its efficiency and strength," said Zhang Liang, vice-chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade's Jilin committee.

"Intelligent manufacturing is key to the country's Made in China 2025 strategy," added Zhang, who was explaining the reason for launching the pavilion.

In 2015, the country unveiled its Made in China 2025 strategy, a road map to the future of the manufacturing industry.

"Jilin is an important hub for traditional manufacturing. The province should seize the opportunities brought about by the national strategy and make breakthroughs in improving its industrial efficiency and industrial restructuring and upgrades," Zhang said.

A range of leading companies booked booths at the pavilion, including United States group Tesla, Austria's Polytechnik, Hyundai Heavy Industries from South Korea, Evolver and Shenyang Machine Tool from China.

The expo will not only display up-to-date high-end manufacturing technologies, but also offer a platform for exchanges between Chinese and overseas industry insiders, Zhang said. A forum on intelligent manufacturing will be held during the expo, and 400 corporate executives and experts in the industry will participate in the event.

Another eight pavilions at the expo include those for Hong Kong commodities, Taiwan commodities, international commodities, foods and pharmaceuticals, culture and tourism, e-payments and Jilin's opening-up and cooperation.

In the pavilion for international commodities, products from 10 countries along the Belt and Road routes will be displayed, including teak furniture from Indonesia, leather products from Pakistan, cashmere products from Nepal, carpets from Iran and wood carvings from Zambia.

The pavilion for culture and tourism will showcase Jilin's tourism resources and products as well as the achievements of the province's tourism industry in recent years.

In the pavilion for Jilin's opening-up and cooperation, the achievements of the province's cities, development zones and key industries will be displayed, and the progress of key investment projects in the province will be exhibited.
