Nanjing National Music Orchestra

The Nanjing National Music Orchestra, previously known as the Nanjing Song and Dance Ensemble, was established in Jan,1986. Since its establishment, the Orchestra has produced a number of high quality works including the instrumental ensemble "Ancient Melody of Nanjing"; instrumenta1 percussion "Universal Happiness"; Quartet "Spring of Mei Mountain"; Sheng solo "Midnight Meditation"; Xun solo "Rainy Flowers"; drum music of ten pieces "Triumphant Tune of the General and etc., which have become the representative works of the Orchestra.

The Orchestra has visited the former Soviet Union, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Japan (4 times), Switzerland, France, Portugal, Malta, Italy, St. Marino, Egypt, Morocco and Israel, attending international art events and giving performances. They were warmly welcomed and highly appreciated by audience wherever they went.

At present, the major artists of the Orchestra include Pei Deyi (first grade player, representative work:" Triumphant Tune of the General") and Lei Jiangong (first grade player, representative work: "Midnight Meditation").
