Big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IOT), among other fields, define the orientation and scale of Zhuhai Intelligent Industrial Park, states a plan approved by the city government on Aug 16.

Located in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan), the park is to rely on the city's advantages to develop intelligent industries. Invested will be 12 billion yuan ($1.8 billion) in intelligent exhibition and data centers and a technical service base by the end of 2018. Construction is to begin within a year.

The Construction & Development Plan of Zhuhai Intelligent Industrial Park anticipates that infrastructure including network architecture and smart grids will be in full operation by 2019 before it is able to attract the first group of industrial service companies. Endeavors are projected to import 20 projects costing 9 billion yuan ($1.3 billion).

The goal is for Zhuhai's intelligent industries to surpass 60 billion yuan ($9 billion) in total output value by the end of 2022, with more than five hi-tech enterprises with annual revenue of 10+ billion yuan ($1.5 billion) each in place.

The park is comprised of two parts -- Pilot and Accumulation areas. The Pilot Area will consist of a technology complex covering floor space of 210,000 sq m and relying on Harbor 1 High-Tech Park. It will incubate startups to a higher development stage while promoting and demonstrating industrial technology applications.

On the other hand, the Accumulation Area is to be sited in Beiwei of the Technological Innovation Coast, positioned to house high-end innovation platforms and related major projects as well as nurture national innovation-driven industrial clusters. The layout divides it into big data, AI and robot, cloud computing, incubators, and industrial support services.

To ensure highly efficient business operations, the park will involve different parties, with the rights and responsibilities of each clearly specified.

The Administrative Committee of the Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone must assess with the park's industrial position and development goals before it is able to arrange government support in accordance with policies.

Designated enterprises oversee infrastructure and will jointly establish a company with the development zone to conduct operations and attract investment.
