Gree retains lead as great Chinese air-con company

Zhuhai-based Gree Electric Appliances leads the list of central air-conditioning brands in China for the sixth time with a market share of 18.1 percent, according to the China Central Air-Conditioner Manufacturing Market Research Report in H1 2017 just released by HVAC News.

The report shows that the domestic central air-conditioning market has witnessed an increase of 25 percent in the first half of the year.

In recent years, Gree has been exploring the overseas market with "Made in China, Loved by the World" as its motto. With success in promoting its products, Gree has won contracts for many major international projects. 

For example, Gree will serve as the only cooling facilities supplier with its LHE high-efficiency water-cooled screw chiller for the Mordovia Arena in Russia, the venue for 2018 FIFA World Cup. A handover ceremony was held on July 20. Gree is also one of the major air-conditioner suppliers for the venue.

Valued at 45.4 billion yuan ($6.75 billion), Gree Electric Appliances took 14th place on a list released by the China Trademark Research Institute on June 26 to appraise the value of trademarks and brands of companies listed in the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges. It was first in the list for home appliances.
