Standardized urban passenger transport and traffic services by the Zhuhai Bureau of Transportation scored 94 points in an evaluation by a national expert panel on July 26.

The trial is one of the first in the country concerning integrated standardization of social management and public services. It is also the first of its kind undertaken by transportation authorities, stated a government official.

Zhuhai ran the project in response to the Outline of the Action Plan of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) and the call to establish an urban passenger transport demonstration base. The trial project application was submitted in 2013 and approved in 2014.

The city Transportation Bureau formulated 562 standards, of which 342 were self-determined. These concern buses, trams, taxis, traffic information integrated services, and dealing with complaints.

As the standardization continues, the trial is expected to enhance the city's transport management level, boost accessibility to information, set up a credit system, and solve transport management problems, a government official pointed out.
