AI Tianjin around the corner

The Tianjin municipal government recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese Academy of Engineering to build a new-generation institute of artificial intelligence (AI) development studies, aiming to promote an AI industry that provides solutions, makes plans and creates artificial intelligent public benefits.

According to the agreement, the institute will analyze the leading techniques and development processes in the world-wide artificial intelligence industry, predicting development trends. Meanwhile, it will build an evaluation system focused on the questions which need to be solved and the major scientific achievements of AI.

The institute will be a platform for release of the evaluation results for application in China and will formulate AI standards and systems.

At the recent World Intelligence Congress, the first fully-automatic transportation shuttle was released. It was designed and researched by the Tianjin intelligent connected auto industries institute.

In the Tianjin Binhai new area, the first National Supercomputing Center Tianhe-1 has already served more than 1000 scientific research projects at the national level. The Xingyun super computer system from Sugon has occupied most of the high-performance computer market for four consecutive years, while the Kylin operating system from Tianjin Kylin Information Technology is the safest operating system and the new generation CPU products from Phytium are the best ARM chips.

All scientific elements in Tianjin are laying a foundation for Tianjin's artificial intelligence, and the city's traditional industries are also adopting intelligent processes to build a national advanced manufacturing and research base.

Tianjin will be a city of artificial intelligence in the future.
