Agreements for five aquatic product processing, warehousing, and cold-chain investment projects valued at 25 billion yuan ($3.65 billion) in Doumen District's Baijiao Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park were signed on June 26. A hundred people attended the ceremony at the Zhuhai Holiday Resort Hotel (Du Jia Cun).
Zhuhai Qiangjing Agriculture Co Ltd and Comwell Group are among the investors in the logistics undertakings.
According to the contracts, the projects include a 360,000 sq m deep-processing plant for aquatic products, ultralow-temperature storage freezers with a capacity of nearly 100,000 tons, and introduction of hundreds of world-leading refrigerated trucks. The construction of ultralow- and ultrahigh-pressure freezers will be scaled up to create a storage and trading center for imported marine products.
All the projects are to come into operation within a year on 200,000 sq m of industrial land.

Baijiao Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park is in Baijiao Linjiang Ecological Agriculture Technology Park, which itself is part of Zhuhai National Agriculture Technology Park.
With focus on the aquatic logistics, the demonstration park will be constructed in four stages.
According to the park industrial plan, the second stage will also house enterprises of aquatic product processing, warehousing, and cold-chain logistics. More than a dozen of the second-phase projects covering 300,000 sq m are under negotiation, with contracts expected to be signed at the beginning of next year.
Upon completion, the park will see well-rounded improvements and become a model of its kind with the most centralized industries, advanced technologies, and strongest capacity for processing, storage, and transportation.
It aims to become Guangdong's largest aquatic product trading center in the third phase of construction.
With strengthening of the cold chain transport capacity, the demonstration park is also expected to bring in many high-quality poultry products, fruits, and vegetables. It will not only enrich choices for locals, but will also be an important aquatic and agricultural products supply base for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Big Bay Area.
Zhuhai deputy mayor Liu Jiawen and representatives from the bureaus of Science, Technology, Industry & Information; Technology; Marine, Agriculture & Water; and Commerce joined Doumen District officials at the signing ceremony.
