Major investments foreseen at China-Israel summit

Eleven deals worth more than $2.5 billion are to be signed at the 3rd China-Israel Investment Summit in the Zhuhai International Conference & Exhibition Center from June 27 to 28. Moreover, some 6,000 participants will be involved, it was announced at a press briefing on June 20.

The projects at this, the largest science innovation investment summit for Israel in China, include:

Huafa Group will initiate a Sino-Israel innovation fund along with SDIC Fund Management Co Ltd, a subsidiary of State Development & Investment Corp.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and China Aviation Industry General Aircraft (CAIGA) will co-develop civil aircraft.

Sino-Israeli Accelerator Industrial Park is to locate in the Zhuhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

Israel's Trendlines Group and Zhuhai Agricultural Investment Holding Group Co Ltd will combine efforts in their latest agri-tech incubator joint venture.

Gree Electric Appliances will form an in-depth strategic partnership with Tadiran Group in Israel.

High-tech companies

The summit will draw 215 representatives from 130 Israeli enterprises in emerging business areas covering vehicular automation, internet finance, industrial applications, life sciences, artificial intelligence, robots, big data, mobile information, clean energy, AR (augmented reality), VR (virtual reality), and the internet.

A total of 2,726 Chinese innovative enterprises, financial institutions, and investment organizations have registered to attend, making the grand event a brand for pragmatic bilateral partnership. It will also mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Israel. 

A 5,000-sq-m hall will encompass three zones respectively for domestic cities including Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Harbin, Dongguan, Changzhou, Dalian, and Yangjiang; 112 Israeli businesses; and more than 200 corporate exhibitors. The exhibits will highlight the latest achievements in scientific and technological innovations from both countries.

Business cooperation

A range of activities will be organized to strengthen business exchanges and technology sharing, which include investment environment promotion events for demonstration cities in China-Israel cooperation, Israeli enterprise roadshows, a sci-tech innovation exhibition for both countries, and investment tours to Zhuhai.

The roadshows will provide direct access to startups and hi-tech companies with much potential for investors, and serve as a good way to learn latest industry trends based on which to seek cooperation, said He Jun, deputy secretary-general of the Zhuhai municipal government.

A special event will be held to display the most cutting-edge sci-tech innovations from Mobileye, a global leader in the development of vision technology for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS); ReWalk, renowned Israeli manufacturer of exoskeleton systems; and world-famous 3D printer manufacturer Stratasys.

B2B meetings will also be held during which enterprises and investors will be face-to-face discussing business opportunities. They will be networked upon industry types.

It is also confirmed that many of the heads of the leading enterprises will attend the summit. They include Gree president Dong Mingzhu; Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun; Li Dongsheng, chairman of the board of TCL Corp; Xiong Xiaoge, chairman of the board of IDG Ventures; Su Shuping, general manager of Mobileye China; ReWalk CEO Larry Jasinki; and other heavyweight business leaders, investors, and scholars.

Novel symbol designed

"INNONATION," a compound word integrating "innovation" and "nation," is expected to become a catch-phrase among the visitors. The "INNO" is painted red with "NATION" in blue, a use of color to extend good wishes between China and Israel. According to the organizer Huafa Group, it was inspired by Amir Gal Or, founder of Infinity Group, and has been registered as the summit's logo.
