Close to 200 cooperation agreements signed at Tianjin conference

The 2017 China•Tianjin Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship and Development Conference was held in the Tianjin Meijiang Conference and Exhibition Center on June 14.

Co-hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Tianjin government, the conference attracted 83 countries and regions and 232 foreign and Chinese overseas groups and resulted in the signing of 198 cooperation agreements with a total value of 17.2 billion yuan ($2.53 billion). Signed agreements included 107 overseas high level talents introduction projects, 38 scientific and technological innovation projects, 3 media cooperation projects and 50 investment trade projects.

The conference attracted many overseas and domestic high level talents, especially professors and experts. Gao Wei, an academician of the Royal Society of New Zealand and the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand said, "New Zealand is a small country, so a lot of mature projects cannot be promoted here, but they have a bright future in China. In recent years, high speed rail and numerically-controlled machine tools have become famous abroad. Although I live in New Zealand, I always care about the development of China; I want to contribute to my country."

One part and a highlight of the conference was the 2017 World Project and Commodity of Global Entrepreneurs Exposition, where more than 200 enterprises with overseas Chinese investment from 21 countries and regions showed their projects and innovative achievements.

Sixteen Chinese projects were displayed in the Tianjin "Qiaomengyuan" pavilion at the exposition. The projects, which involve 360 enterprises with overseas Chinese investment totaling 25.4 billion yuan ($3.73 billion), have attracted 63 high level talents returning from overseas, and achieved 97 scientific research outcome market transformations.

V1 Automobile World, one of the Tianjin "Qiaomengyuan" pavilion projects, drew a considerable number of car racing fans. V1 Automobile World is a main project in the Wuqing district in Tianjin. The track is under construction, and it is expected that V1 Automobile World will undertake all races expect F1 events. It will be an automobile theme park offering electronic driving experience, a drive-in cinema, a drift racetrack and a second-hand car trading service.

In addition to projects exhibited in the exhibition by overseas Chinese businesspeople, a lot of entries were mounted by enterprises from the Tianjin free trade zone.

The 2017 World Project and Commodity of Global Entrepreneurs Exposition proved to be a good stage from which to introduce the power of overseas Chinese investment to the world.
