Led by Hu Chunhua, chief of Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee, a delegation from South China's Guangdong province visited the UK from June 11 to 14, in a bid to strengthen economic ties and facilitate mutual benefits.

The delegation attended the Guangdong-UK Economic and Trade Cooperation Meeting on June 14 and witnessed the signing of 26 agreements worth $1.83 billion.

"UK and Guangdong enjoy longstanding economic ties and we hope to expand bilateral investment and cooperation in the fields of technology and education," said Hu at the meeting.

During the visit in UK, Hu met Princess Anne, Chancellor of Exchequer Phillip Hammond, and government officials from London, Birmingham and Scotland to implement the consensus made by the leaders of the two countries and expand exchanges on different levels.

To communicate for further cooperation in technology, manufacturing, new energy and finance, the delegation visited the University of Edinburgh, the University of Warwick, Rolls-Royce Aero Engines, HSBC Group, Canary Wharf Group and the UK branches of leading Chinese companies Huawei Group and China General Nuclear Power Group.

Chinese Ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming and Guangzhou Mayor Wen Guohui also attended the meetings.
