A group of Guangzhou volunteers called "Cloud Readers" read books aloud and record audio for people with visual impairments.

Audio books recorded by the volunteers can be downloaded from a special reading room for visual impaired people in Guangzhou's Baiyun District Library.

A reading contest was held in a Baiyun district bookstore on May 21, selecting the top 10 best readers from 98 volunteers to commemorate the 27th National Handicapped Day.

According to staff member from the Baiyun District Library, volunteers have recorded over 600 audio books since January.

"The voice is a way for us to connect more with the world. We can feel the love and care from the society and enjoy books here," said a visually impaired person surnamed Li.

According to the organizer of the "Cloud Readers", the volunteer group will continue to recruit readers that are in fluent Mandarin or Cantonese.
