Octogenarian ages foreseen for Zhuhai dwellers

The average lifespan of a Zhuhai resident is expected to reach 83 by 2020, it was announced at the Outline of Healthy Zhuhai 2030 Program (Draft) just approved by the city government.

Also approved were the Zhuhai Health & Wellness 13th Five Year Plan and Action Plan for Constructing a Healthy Zhuhai (2017-20), each calling for a health-friendly environment. Creation of systems for a healthy environment, public health enhancement, health service intelligence, medical service improvements, healthy ecology, and life and safeguard systems are also stipulated in the 13th Five Year Plan.

The health literacy of residents should also significantly increase, in additional to better health service systems and family planning policies.

According to the Healthy Zhuhai 2030 Program, focus will be place on improving the ecological environment, lifestyle of residents, and health insurance.

The Action Plan for Constructing a Healthy Zhuhai (2017-20) states that construction of 10 health demonstration towns, 60 health demonstration villages, 120 health demonstration communities and units, as well as 1,200 health demonstration families will be completed by 2020.

Zhuhai will become a National Health Demonstration City and Guangdong Health Demonstration City. All the city’s public health-care centers will be equipped with self-service examination facilities. After improving the number of health-care centers and public physical fitness equipment, all residents will be able to enjoy the services within a travel time of 10 minutes.
